Disc Mower
Disc mowers run 540 RPM from the tractor PTO and transfer power to 4–9 cutting discs through a central gearbox. In Prairie conditions, cutting 30+ acres per day puts extreme cyclic load on the central gearbox and disc drive units. A worn output seal or scored bevel gear set means costly downtime mid-cut.
Rotary Tiller
Rotary tillers require a right-angle gearbox at the top to convert horizontal PTO shaft rotation to vertical rotor drive. The top gearbox takes 540 RPM input and steps it up or down for the rotor. Impact loads from hidden rocks are the primary cause of gearbox failure — the housing and ring gear must absorb shock without cracking.
Lawn & Finish Mower
