Agricultural Gearbox
Full range of PTO, right-angle bevel, parallel shaft and worm gearboxes for rotary cutters, tillers, mowers, spreaders and harvesters — produced under ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 in our 28,000 m² facility, shipped to 60+ countries.

1. What is an agricultural gearbox?
An agricultural gearbox is the central transmission component in the kinematic chain of a farm implement. It receives rotational power from a tractor’s power take-off (PTO) — typically at 540 RPM or 1000 RPM — through a cardan / PTO shaft, and converts that input into a speed, torque and direction suitable for the working tool: a rotary blade, an auger, a mixing screw, a spreader disc.
Every agricultural gearbox has at least one input shaft and one output shaft, enclosed in a sealed cast housing filled with gear oil. The gears, bearings, seals and shafts inside that housing determine three things that matter to a farmer: how much torque the implement can deliver, how reliably it will survive a season of dust, mud and shock loads, and how often the operator has to be under it with a wrench.
Materials and heat treatment
Component-level specifications below reflect the standard build across our agricultural range. Premium options (e.g. ground-and-honed gears, Viton seals, salt-spray-tested coatings) are available on request.
- Housing: HT250 grey cast iron (general), QT500-7 ductile iron (heavy-duty cutters and tillers), aluminium alloy (light-weight units for compact tractors).
- Gears: 20CrMnTi or 20CrNi2MoA forged blanks, gas-carburised to 0.8–1.2 mm case depth, surface hardness HRC 58–62, core hardness HRC 30–35.
- Shafts: 40Cr or 42CrMo, quenched and tempered to HB 240–280.
- Bearings: Tapered roller bearings on input and output (NSK / SKF / FAG or domestic equivalent depending on customer choice).
- Seals: Double-lip NBR oil seal as standard; Viton (FKM) for high-temperature dairy / hot climate applications. IP65 sealing class.
Maintenance and off-season storage
A correctly specified agricultural gearbox should comfortably last 8–12 seasons of normal use. The maintenance schedule is short:
- Before every season: check oil level through the sight glass or dip-stick port; top up with SAE 80W-90 or 85W-140 GL-5 gear oil (consult the spec sheet for unit-specific recommendations).
- After the first 50 hours of new operation: drain and refill — this removes break-in metal fines.
- Every 250–300 hours thereafter: drain and refill.
- Annually: inspect input and output seals for weeping, check yoke and bolt torque on the input flange.
- Off-season storage: grease the input shaft splines, store the implement on a level surface with weight off the gearbox, cover the breather to prevent dust ingress.
